A week in room 6

Room 6 has been having a quiet week. They have done respect posters first they did a draft on an A4 paper and they  did a good copy on a piece of A3 paper On them they have words of respect like listening, caring, helping etc they have also put pictures on that look like respect. They are doing autobiographies now they are writing about what they have done in their holidays and that’s what room 6 has been doing.

Autobiographies and a pinch of Siapos

In room 6 they have been doing autobiographies. First they examined Roald Dahl’s autobiography then they started to write their own autobiographies, they have included why their parents choose their name or what their name means etc. Also in room 6 they have also drawn and coloured in Siapos. First they drew their Siapos then they blended pastel colours together.

International Sports and Art in Room 6

In room 6 the P.E. has been intense with dodgeball and the main event, VOLLEYBALL which is the year 4 to 6 syndicate focus for sports, room 6 have learnt to hit the ball their hands together in the shape of a ball and to hit the ball with their finger tips. Room6 have also done a lot of art their main focus for art this week is their names which they used to make pattens they first got a piece of white paper then they folded it in half after they write their name in bubble writing then they go over it in black vivid. They colour in the name then they cut out the name and then they glue their name onto a piece of black paper in a pattern.

World news

Every Monday in room 6 they sit in a huge circle. Then they talk about what they have done in the weekend, but they tell in as if the are presenting it on the news and they are news presenters. In other news room 6 have been getting in touch with there inner artist by taking a black and white photo and three different pastel colours then they shaded in the picture, they used blend of  dark and light shades to create a master piece.

Room 6′s new class topics.

We interviewed Ashante and Zoe about room 6′s new class topics.

Ashante said she enjoys learning about the Samoan arts, but Zoe said that’s all they’ve really learnt about.

Also in room 6 they’ve been setting out there goals Zoe and Ashante commented that they’re still figuring out what they want to be better at.

Room 6 has been making big title pages about key competencies.

Room 6′s 3D/shading work

Today me and Nicolas interviewed Ashleigh from room 6. Ashleigh said that Ms Smith has taught her the basic tips of shading such as, cross hatching, lines, circles, jabs and curved shading. Ms Smith also got the kids to shade an everyday object e.g a can.

Ashleigh also drew her own 3D shapes, like cubes, pyramids and so on (this was not featured in the picture).

Room 6′s Writing explanations

Hello everyone, on the 14th of March we interviewed Opal and Cory from room 6.

Opal’s explanation was about how tsunamis were made. Her main points were they make a big mess,water goes everywhere and they are made by plates colliding.

Cory’s main points were its made out of trees, it then gets taken to the paper factory, and then re-planting.

Opal often talked about how dangerous tsunamis are. Whereas Cory’s talked about  different steps to how the paper is made.
